Police inspector on special duty commits suicide in Niger

A police inspector deployed on special duty in Sarkin-Pawa, Munya Local Government Area of Niger State, reportedly took his own life in the early hours of Wednesday.

The deceased, identified as Inspector Bassey Asuquo, was a member of the 28 Police Mobile Force (PMF), Umuahia, Abia State, assigned to the area for a special operation.

According to security sources, the incident occurred at 1:50 a.m. Asuquo had been exhibiting unusual behavior prior to the tragedy, prompting his Unit Commander to order that his service rifle be withdrawn and secured at the Sarkin-Pawa Police Division.
