The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested two suspects, including one who posed as a soldier, in connection with a robbery incident in Durumi, Abuja.

The suspects were linked to a robbery that occurred on August 20 at about 4:00 a.m. at two houses on Ikachukwu Close, opposite Junior Secondary School, Durumi, where residents were dispossessed of valuables and a security guard, Stephen Julius, was stabbed.

Acting on intelligence, operatives apprehended one of the suspects, Zubairu Usman, on August 24 at about 10:15 a.m.

He was found wearing a half army uniform and falsely claiming to be a sergeant in the Nigerian Army. Usman was caught alongside another suspect, Abubakar Imram of Karamajiji village, loitering suspiciously near the crime scene.

One of the victims, Mrs. Akinlade Ayodeji, and the injured guard immediately identified the suspects, prompting their arrest.

A black Kia Rio with registration number LSD 197 BU, allegedly used during the robbery, was recovered from Usman.

Police investigations have since confirmed that Usman is not a soldier, while efforts are ongoing to track down other fleeing gang members.
