The Kano State Police Command has arrested 18-year-old Saudat Jibril for the alleged murder of her husband, 30-year-old Salisu Idris, in the early hours of Tuesday, May 6, 2025.
The tragic incident occurred in Farawa Quarters, where Jibril is accused of using a sharp knife to fatally stab her husband in the throat.
The victim was rushed to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital but was pronounced dead by medical personnel.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, confirmed the arrest.
He said the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, had immediately dispatched detectives to the scene following a distress report around 12:35 a.m.
“The suspect has been taken into custody and is being held at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department, Homicide Section,” Kiyawa stated, adding that a full investigation is underway and the suspect will be charged with culpable homicide once inquiries are completed.
Reacting to the incident, CP Bakori condemned the act and assured the public of the command’s unwavering commitment to tackling crime across the state.
“The Command will not condone any form of violence or criminal behavior.
“We are determined to pursue justice in this case,” he said, urging residents to remain calm and cooperate with ongoing investigations.
The killing has left residents of Farawa Quarters in shock, as they described the incident as both tragic and deeply unsettling.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear, as police continue their investigation.
