The Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Alagbon, Lagos, has launched an investigation into allegations that some of its officers abducted, tortured, and extorted N2 million from a Lagos resident.
The probe followed a public complaint by one Olawale, who alleged on X that he was forcefully taken from his apartment in Egbeda last Tuesday, assaulted during the journey to Alagbon, and coerced into signing a false statement admitting to internet fraud.
In a video shared online, the officers were seen dragging and hitting him with guns. Olawale further claimed the officers demanded N2 million, forcing him to borrow after showing he had only N200,000 in his account. He also alleged that a PoS operator introduced by the officers charged him N37,000 for the transaction.
Reacting to the allegations on Monday, FCID spokesperson ASP Aminat Mayegun confirmed that both the officers and the PoS agent had been identified, while the victim had agreed to assist investigators.
“We are thoroughly investigating the allegations of extortion and rights violations. Any officer found guilty will face disciplinary and legal action, and efforts will be made to recover the extorted money,” Mayegun said, adding that regular updates would be provided.
She stressed that the command remains committed to professionalism, accountability, and fair justice delivery.
