Police recover rifles, ammunition from bandits’ hideout in FCT

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has uncovered a suspected bandits’ hideout in Dajin Madam Forest, recovering two FN FAL rifles and live ammunition during a targeted operation linked to an ongoing arms trafficking investigation.

According to the command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, the breakthrough followed the arrest of four suspects accused of supplying firearms, ammunition and illicit substances to armed criminal groups.

Adeh said operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit launched the raid on August 2 after obtaining actionable intelligence from one of the suspects, Musbahu Ishaq, whose confession reportedly led investigators to the forest camp situated between Plateau and Bauchi states.

Investigators said Ishaq allegedly sourced weapons and ammunition from Rabiu Hassan before delivering them to Baba Alhaji Sanusi, a suspected bandit leader believed to be hiding in a forest in Katsina State and currently on the run.

During the search of the hideout, police recovered two FN FAL rifles and a quantity of live ammunition allegedly hidden within the forest.

The police spokesperson said efforts were continuing to track down other members of the network, recover more weapons believed to be in circulation and prosecute those already in custody.

The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Ahmed Sanusi, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks through intelligence-driven operations.

He said security operatives would sustain the ongoing operation until every member of the syndicate was arrested and brought before the law.

The command also appealed to members of the public to support security efforts by providing credible and timely information through the nearest police station or the command’s emergency communication channels.
