Police recover stolen Kano deputy gov’s Hilux, arrest driver

The Kano State Police Command has recovered a Toyota Hilux vehicle belonging to the convoy of the state’s Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, after it was reportedly stolen earlier this week.

According to a statement from the Office of the Deputy Governor on Wednesday, the recovery followed a swift and coordinated operation by security operatives in the early hours of the day.

A suspect, identified as a permanent and pensionable driver, has been arrested in connection with the theft and is currently assisting police investigators.

The Deputy Governor’s Office, in the statement signed by his Press Secretary, Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, described the incident as “a clear breach of trust” by the arrested driver.

It commended the Police and other security agencies for their professionalism and quick response, which led to the successful recovery of the vehicle.

“The general public is hereby advised to remain calm and rest assured that the security of lives and property remains the top priority of the Kano State Government, both within and outside the Government House,” the statement added.

The incident has since been handed over to the Police for further investigation.
