Police rescue 19 abducted INEC officials in Imo

Police operatives have rescued 19 Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ad-hoc officials abducted by gunmen in Imo State.

It was gathered that the INEC officials were on their way to seven different polling units in Ugbelie ward 06 in Ideato South Local Government Area of Imo State when they were abducted.

Confirming the incident, the Imo State Police Public Relations, Chinenye Chijioke-Osuji, said the abducted INEC officials were rescued after they sent out a distress call.

The police spokesperson stated that the kidnappers carted away election materials which include BVAS and sensitive materials.
