The victims, comprising men, women, and children, were abducted by gunmen wielding AK-47 rifles and other sophisticated weapons.

Hassan said the command received credible information about the incident from the Birnin Gwari branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) at about 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

According to him, the abductors took the victims into the forest and concealed them in a cave within a mountainous area.

The police spokesperson said: “Upon receipt of the information, a crack team from the Birnin Gwari Area Command was immediately deployed to the location.

“On sighting the well-armed police operatives, the abductors fled, abandoning their captives, who were successfully rescued unharmed.”
