Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted two staff members of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) in Ondo State.
It was gathered that the AAUA officials were abducted from their residence in Akungba-Akoko, Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State, on Monday evening.
It was learnt that one of the victims, Omoniyi Eleyinmi, is a faculty officer in the Faculty of Education and a member of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) at AAUA.
Eleyinmi was said to have been abducted at his house located on Supare-Akoko Road in Akungba-Akoko at about 7 p.m. on Monday.
Final-year AAUA student found dead in boyfriend’s apartment
The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olushola Ayanlade, confirmed the incident on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.
Ayanlade said: “Two AAUA staff were abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.
“However, our men responded quickly and were able to rescue one of them.
“The commissioner of police has directed that the rescued individual be debriefed for possible intelligence that may assist in our ongoing efforts to rescue the remaining person.”
