Police storm PDP national secretariat ahead of BoT, NWC meetings

Police operatives have stormed the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) national secretariat in Wadata Plaza, Abuja, ahead of two opposing factions’ meetings at the venue.

Many police officers were sighted at the party’s secretariat on Tuesday morning, in a move to prevent the breakdown of law and order.

Confusion began on Monday, November 17, 2025, when Samuel Anyanwu, a loyalist of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, announced an emergency meeting of the PDP National Executive Committee (NEC) and Board of Trustees (BoT) at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

The faction led by Abdulrahman Mohammed said the BoT session would begin at 11 a.m., followed by the NEC meeting at 2 p.m., both at the same venue.

The group insisted that attendance is mandatory, stressing that “crucial matters” would be discussed.

Anyanwu, in the early hours of Tuesday, arrived the party’s national secretariat ahead of the BoT and NEC meetings.

Ex-Kaduna Gov Makarfi resigns as PDP BoT secretary

Kabiru Turaki, who emerged as PDP national chairman at the party’s convention in Ibadan on Saturday, earlier announced that the newly elected leadership would go ahead with its own inaugural NEC meeting at Wadata Plaza.

A statement issued by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Ini Essien, said the meeting would be held at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

Essien added: “Kindly endeavour to attend as very crucial matters of our Party shall be discussed.

“Please note that this meeting will break into sessions to further deliberate in smaller units throughout the whole day.”
