Policeman attacked by motorcyclists dies in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command says an Inspector attached to the Iponri Division, who was attacked by commercial motorcyclists in the state, has died from an injury sustained during the attack.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, made this known on Friday, August 11, 2023.

Hundeyin said the Inspector, whose name was not mentioned, was one of the policemen attacked at Ijora Olopa by the assailants on Thursday, August 10.

He said the police officer died at an undisclosed hospital on Friday, where he was rushed to on Thursday after the attack.

The police spokesperson stated that the policemen went to the area to implement the Okada restriction law of the Lagos State Government when they were attacked.

He said no arrest had been made as of Friday evening, adding that the police were on the trail of those that carried out the attack.
