Poor performance: UNICAL expels Cross River Speaker, 565 other students

The management of the University of Calabar (UNICAL) has expelled a total of 566 students, including the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Elvert Ayambem Ekom, over poor Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA).

Ayambem represents Ikom 2 State Constituency in the Cross River Assembly.

The expulsion was made known in a list released by UNICAL on Tuesday, July 25, 2023.

The expulsion which affected Ayambem and other students cut across 100 to 400 levels, affecting 15 faculties and departments of the university.
