Portable arraigned for assaulting Ogun govt officials

Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been arraigned before the Isabo High Court in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.

Portable was arraigned before the court on Thursday, February 20, 2025.

The singer was arraigned after he surrendered to the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department in Yaba on Wednesday.

The Ogun State Police Command had declared the singer wanted for allegedly attacking government officials in the state.

The command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, announced this in a statement on Monday, February 17.

Portable surrenders to police

Odutola disclosed that the incident occurred at about 10 a.m. on February 5, 2025, when three officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Ota Zonal Office – TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi – were conducting an enforcement exercise at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota and encountered an elderly man, later identified as Portable’s father, at Odogwu Bar in the area.

Portable later declared himself a madman, who needs help.

Portable revealed that he receives treatment for his mental health at Aro Psychiatric Hospital in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, where he is one of the patients.

In a heartfelt plea via videos on Instagram on Tuesday, February 18, Portable said he is a certified psychiatric patient.
