Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been arraigned before the Federal High Court in Ota, Ogun State, over multiple criminal allegations, including assault and vehicle theft.
Portable is facing a nine-count charge brought by the Ogun State Police Command, covering offences such as assault, causing bodily harm, theft and resisting lawful arrest.
The command’s spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the development on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.
The singer’s court appearance followed the circulation of a viral video showing him in police custody, which was reportedly linked to a complaint by his estranged partner, Ashabi Simple.
Prosecutors alleged that the incident occurred on New Year’s Day at Portable’s bar in the Iyana Ilogbo area of Ogun State, where he was said to have attacked Ashabi, several police officers, and other individuals.
Those listed as victims include Ileyemi Damilola, Akinyanju Oluwabusayomi, Olowu Olumide, Demilade Ogunniyi, and Ebuka Odah.
Portable was accused of stealing a Mercedes-Benz E300, with dealer number Wally Dex Auto, valued at N12 million and belonging to Ileyemi.
Two siblings of Ashabi testified as witnesses to the alleged assault, though she was not present in court on Monday.
The police further accused the singer of obstructing and assaulting Ogungbe Olayemi, a female police Inspector, while she was performing her official duties.
The presiding judge denied Portable bail, citing the absence of the allegedly assaulted police officer in court.
The judge insisted on seeing the officer before ruling on the bail application.
The judge thereafter remanded the singer in custody until a fresh bail consideration on January 19, 2026.
