The Police Service Commission (PSC) has acquired a new recruitment portal as part of plans to decentralise the hiring process for its staff and all categories of police officers.

PSC’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Abuja. He said the decision followed a consultative meeting between the commission and recruitment desk officers from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Under the new arrangement, state recruitment officers will play key roles in the 2025 police recruitment exercise. The Ministry of Police Affairs, Nigeria Police Force, and Federal Character Commission will also have access to the portal to promote transparency and inclusiveness.

Ani noted that the initiative aims to curb corruption and nepotism in the recruitment process.

“For the first time, the commission met with officers in charge of recruitment from across the country to take far-reaching decisions on ensuring efficient, transparent, accountable, and equitable recruitment,” he said.

According to him, the portal will be dedicated to both PSC personnel recruitment and police recruitment, and will be activated once preparations for the 2025 exercise are complete.

He urged the public to note that future police recruitments will be conducted exclusively through the new portal, with state officers playing significant roles.
