The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) says the Indomie Vegetable Flavour noodles recently recalled in France do not originate from Nigeria and are not registered for sale in the country.
NAFDAC made this known via a statement issued by its Director-General/CEO, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, on Monday, December 22, 2025.
The agency said the recall by French authorities was due to the presence of undeclared allergens, including milk and eggs, which could pose health risks to consumers with allergies.
The agency stressed that the affected product is not approved by NAFDAC and is not part of the Nigerian market.
NAFDAC noted that noodles are on the federal government’s import prohibition list, making their importation into Nigeria illegal and significantly reducing the likelihood of the recalled product entering the country.

The agency said it has intensified nationwide surveillance and directed its zonal directors and state coordinators to remain vigilant and immediately remove the product if found.
It stated that the Ports Inspection Directorate has also been placed on alert to prevent any attempted importation.
“The Agency further assures the public that all Indomie instant noodles and other noodle brands registered by NAFDAC for sale in Nigeria are manufactured locally and approved only after meeting stringent regulatory requirements, including compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP),” it added.
The agency urged consumers to avoid unregistered food products and report any suspected sale of the recalled noodles to the nearest NAFDAC office.
