‘Reliable ally’: Tinubu lauds Uba Sani on 55th birthday

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani on the occasion of his 55th birthday, lauding his lifelong commitment to democracy, inclusive governance, and national development.

Tinub, in a statement issued on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, described Sani as a trusted and reliable ally, a seasoned reformer, and a product of sacrifice and principle, whose journey from pro-democracy activism to public office reflects dedication to the Nigerian project.

The president recalled Sani’s role as a student leader and democracy advocate during the era of military rule, noting that his willingness to stand for justice and freedom shaped his leadership style.

According to Tinubu, those ideals have matured into statesmanship, humility, and empathy in governance.

He stated: “Governor Uba Sani represents a rare generation of leaders whose journey into power was preceded by sacrifice and principle.

“As a young student leader and later a pro-democracy activist during the dark days of military rule, he stood firmly on the side of justice, freedom, and national unity.

“At a time when fear was widespread and silence tempting, he—like a few of us—chose the more challenging path of conviction.

“In power, he has not abandoned the history of struggle; somewhat, it has matured into statesmanship, guiding his conduct in office with humility, empathy, and resolve.”

Tinubu also highlighted Sani’s tenure in the 9th National Assembly, commending his legislative contributions, particularly the Banks and Other Financial Institutions Act (BOFIA) 2020, which he said strengthened financial stability, encouraged innovation and expanded access to credit for businesses and entrepreneurs.

Since assuming office as governor in May 2023, Tinubu said Sani has brought a compassionate and inclusive approach to governance in Kaduna State, helping to heal ethnic and religious divisions, and restore trust among communities.

He noted that areas previously affected by insecurity, such as Birni Gwari, have witnessed improved safety, allowing farmers to return to their fields and economic activities to thrive.

The president further commended the governor’s achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture, and industrialisation, describing them as evidence of a people-focused development agenda that prioritises equity and long-term prosperity.

Tinubu reaffirmed Sani’s commitment to the ideals of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his support for the Renewed Hope Agenda, describing him as a dependable partner in advancing democratic gains.

Tinubu stated: “As you mark this milestone in prayer, I join your family, friends, and the good people of Kaduna State in wishing you good health, strength, greater accomplishments, and renewed wisdom to continue your selfless service to our country.

“May your leadership continue to inspire, and may Kaduna State and Nigeria benefit ever more from your service.”
