Rema joins Drake on wireless stage, fuels “Afrobeats Big 4” conversation

Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Rema shared the stage with Canadian superstar Drake during the second day of Drake’s headline appearance at the 2025 Wireless Festival, reinforcing his growing status on the global stage and adding weight to his claim as part of the “Afrobeats Big 4.”

Drake, one of the most influential and best-selling artists of the millennium, brought out Rema as a surprise guest at the iconic UK music festival.

The Nigerian star captivated the massive crowd with a performance of his hit single Ozeba, a standout track from his Grammy-nominated album HEIS.

The performance marked a significant moment in Rema’s career, as he returned to the Wireless Festival stage where he previously performed in 2022 and 2024.

His return, this time alongside Drake, signals a new level of recognition and international acclaim.

Speculation around a possible collaboration between Drake and Rema has swirled since 2024, when a leaked folder dubbed “100 Gig” reportedly featured an unreleased track by the two artists.

Rema’s surprise appearance at Drake’s concert now lends credibility to those rumors, and fans are eager to see if Rema will be featured on Drake’s upcoming project, which also includes a teased collaboration with UK rapper Central Cee.

If confirmed, the collaboration would see Rema join fellow Nigerian stars Wizkid and Tems as Afrobeats artists who have worked with Drake, further cementing his place among the genre’s elite.

Rema has been vocal about his claim to a spot among Afrobeats’ top-tier acts, challenging the long-held “Big 3” narrative that includes Davido, Wizkid, and Burna Boy.

During his HEIS world tour, Rema made a bold artistic statement by performing in front of wax figures representing the three established icons, positioning himself visually and symbolically as part of what he calls the “Big 4.”

His joint performance with Drake now adds real-world weight to that claim, as he continues to rub shoulders with global music heavyweights and expand Afrobeats’ influence on the world stage.
