Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Saturday empowered more than 800 women in Kogi State and commissioned two key public projects during a one-day working visit to the state.
The projects inaugurated were the Kogi State Treasury House and a newly completed Primary Healthcare Centre at Lokongoma Phase I in Lokoja.
Speaking during the inauguration, the First Lady described the projects as critical investments that would improve public service delivery and expand access to quality healthcare for residents.
She commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for prioritising infrastructure and social development, urging residents to safeguard the facilities for the benefit of future generations.
“Quality healthcare and efficient public institutions are essential to national development. Residents should protect and make good use of these facilities,” she said.

At the Government House in Lokoja, Tinubu also flagged off the distribution of empowerment materials and start-up grants to over 800 women under the Renewed Hope Initiative.
She said the programme was designed to promote economic empowerment, boost household incomes and support women, youths, children and persons with disabilities through targeted social intervention.
The First Lady encouraged beneficiaries to utilise the support to expand their businesses, become self-reliant and contribute to the growth of their communities.
She also praised the wife of the Kogi State Governor, Hajia Sefinat Ododo, for her efforts in promoting the welfare of women and vulnerable groups across the state.
Governor Ododo thanked the First Lady for the visit and for supporting initiatives aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians, assuring that his administration would continue investing in healthcare, infrastructure and other critical sectors.
He also pledged that the newly commissioned projects would be properly maintained to ensure they continue to serve residents effectively.
The visit concluded with interactions between the First Lady, community leaders, women’s groups and beneficiaries of the empowerment programme, who expressed appreciation for the intervention.
