Remi Tinubu: My husband not magician to end Nigeria’s woes

Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of President Bola Tinubu, says her husband is not a magician to tackle the various challenges bedevilling Nigeria.

The First Lady said President Tinubu is however committed to amending the issues the nation faces.

She said this at the interdenominational church service to mark Nigeria’s 63rd independence anniversary in Abuja on Sunday, October 1, 2023.

Tinubu emphasised that her husband’s administration did not create the problems bewildering the country, saying they were inherited.

She said: “All we inherited are things that had happened many years ago. We are not here to put blame on any administration but to fix what has been damaged.

“My husband is not a magician; he is going to work and I believe and hope that we will have peace in this country; the best is yet to come to us.”

Highlighting the essence of good governance, the First Lady stated that it could be impactful if the citizens embodied the virtues taught by Jesus Christ, citing love, joy, peace, long-suffering, and others.

Speaking on Nigeria’s independence, Tinubu said: “A Nigeria of abundance has begun, and to be part of the greatness that God has started in the nation, Nigerians must look beyond their current realities and embrace hope anew.”

Reiterating her husband’s commitment to the nation’s development, the First Lady said the president had been in talks with international communities and investors to recalibrate Nigeria’s position on the global stage.

Others at the event were the President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Israel Akanji; and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume; among others.
