The House of Representatives has opened an investigation into the management of over $4.6 billion in health grants Nigeria received between 2021 and 2025 from the Global Fund and USAID.

Chairman of the House Committee on Infectious Diseases, Hon. Amobi Ogah, said the probe aims to ensure transparency in how funds meant to fight HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria were used.

He said the committee will work with the EFCC and ICPC to trace spending and prevent future misuse, adding that all implementing agencies must now submit project plans to the National Assembly before new grants are disbursed.

The hearing, attended by Health Minister Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate and donor representatives, also proposed merging NACA into a new National Agency for the Control of AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (NACATAM) to strengthen oversight.
