Residents crucified bandit after foiled kidnap in Zamfara

Residents of Bakura Local Government Area of Zamfara State have crucified a suspected bandit following a failed kidnapping attempt in the Yargeda community.

The incident occurred on Friday night, December 12, 2025, when armed men reportedly invaded the village and abducted three residents. Sources said the kidnappers were moving their captives through a forest route when they passed through neighbouring Rini village, drawing the attention of locals.

Community members were said to have quickly mobilised and confronted the attackers, forcing most of them to flee. One suspect, however, was captured during the pursuit.

The suspect was reportedly tied up and lynched by an angry mob, after which his body was hung on a water tank structure in the community.

The development was confirmed on Monday by security analyst Zagazola Makama.

As of the time of filing this report, security agencies are yet to issue an official statement, and the fate of the abducted victims remains unclear.
