Robbers rape Ogun varsity students

Suspected armed robbers have attacked and raped two 100-level female students of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) in Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

It was gathered that the students were raped by the assailants during an attack on their apartments in the area on Monday, July 22, 2024.

The armed robbers were said to have struck at about 12:30 a.m. on Monday and took away the students’ belongings.

A student of the university, who spoke on condition of anonymity, disclosed that the armed robbers forced the female students to surrender their phones and other belongings before leading them to an uncompleted building where they took turns to rape them.

The incident was confirmed by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola.

Odutola said the students had been taken to the university clinic for treatment, adding that efforts to arrest the suspects were ongoing.

The police spokesperson stated: “The incident was reported at the Igbeba Police Division at about 10 a.m. on Monday. Police operatives immediately combed the area in search of the suspects. Efforts are in top gear to arrest everyone involved in the crime.

“However, the survivors have been taken to the school clinic for treatment.”
