Sadiq in Real Sociedad match squad after leaving Super Eagles camp over injury

Real Sociedad have named Nigerian striker, Umar Sadiq, in the club’s 22-man match squad, days after leaving the Super Eagles camp ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire.

Sadiq was among Nigeria’s 25-man team for the competition but left following a knee injury sustained in a pre-tournament match against Guinea.

However, Real Sociedad, on Tuesday, included the striker in their team for Wednesday’s La Liga match against Osasuna.

A post by the Spanish club on their X (formerly Twitter) account read: “Squad list for tomorrow’s match. AUPA REAL!!!”

The Super Eagles have yet to speak on the development as of the time of filing this report.

Nigeria’s next game in the 2023 AFCON is against hosts Cote d’Ivoire.

The Super Eagles drew their first match with Equatorial Guinea and need a win to boost their chances of making the next stage of the competition.
