SAHCO wins FG ITF award for SIWES training excellence

Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) Plc has been awarded the Federal Government’s Best Employer in SIWES Student Acceptance 2025 by the Industrial Training Fund (ITF).

The recognition was announced in a statement issued by SAHCO’s Head of Corporate Communications, Mrs Vanessa Uansohia.

According to the statement, the award was conferred in recognition of the company’s consistent support for the Students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) through the regular intake and structured training of students from tertiary institutions across the country.

The award, presented earlier this month, acknowledges SAHCO’s sustained contribution to practical skills acquisition, workplace exposure and capacity building for Nigerian students participating in the SIWES programme.

Reacting to the honour, Chairman of SAHCO Plc, Dr Taiwo Afolabi, described the recognition as a validation of the company’s long-standing commitment to human capital development.

He reaffirmed SAHCO’s resolve to continue playing a leading role in the technical and professional development of young Nigerians, while contributing to employment generation regardless of background.

“As a leading ground handling company in Nigeria and West Africa, SAHCO has consistently encouraged students to apply classroom knowledge in real work environments.

Beyond technical exposure, we also mentor them on workplace ethics, professionalism and the realities of the industry,” Afolabi said.

He commended the Industrial Training Fund for the honour, noting that it would further inspire the company to deepen its contributions to national development.

Similarly, the Managing Director of SAHCO Plc, Mrs Nike Aboderin, praised the ITF for the recognition, describing it as a strong endorsement of the company’s people-development initiatives.

“We appreciate the Industrial Training Fund for this award. It will motivate us to do even more in supporting skills development and strengthening the Nigerian workforce,” she said.

The award further reinforces SAHCO’s standing as an industry leader committed to capacity building, youth empowerment and sustainable workforce development within Nigeria’s aviation sector.
