Preparations are in full swing for the highly anticipated second edition of the Eko Mi Awards, set to take place on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja GRA, Lagos.

With the theme “Eko Best 11,” this year’s ceremony promises to be more than just an awards event—it’s a celebration of excellence, leadership, innovation, and the indomitable spirit of Lagos.

Speaking on the upcoming event, Otunba Bestman Nze Jumbo, CEO of Image Expression and publisher of Eko Mi and Eko E Newspaper, emphasized the essence of the awards.

“This is not just another event. It’s a salute to legacy, leadership, and the relentless Lagos spirit. We’re celebrating pioneers, disruptors, and legends who have redefined what’s possible and powered the pulse of Lagos,” he said.

As with the previous edition, the 2025 ceremony will follow a thorough and meticulous selection process, ensuring that only the most deserving individuals make the final list.

A host of notable Nigerians who have made significant contributions across various sectors in Lagos have already been shortlisted. Among them are:

A number of prominent Nigerians have been nominated for the prestigious “Eko Best 11” award, including Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Funke Akindele, Tunde Onakoya, Tony Rapu, Emmanuel Orobosa, James Faleke, Olawale Talabi, Awele Elumelu, Sanmi Doherty, and Femi Otedola.

Others include Olawale Ayilara, Tokunbo Wahab, Dele Oshinowo, Oba Suleiman Raji Adesina, Kunle Afolayan, Odunayo Eweniyi, Femi Aina, Akin Alabi, Chris Oyakhilome, Tosin Eni Olorunda, P Prime, Cosmas Maduka, Jimi Benson, Tunde Folawiyo, Seyi Tinubu, Tony Elumelu, Aliko Dangote, Femi Gbajabiamila, and Obafemi Hamzat.

The other nominees are Jim Ovia, Sam Adeyemi, Veekee James, Oba Saheed Elegushi, Ibukun Awosika, Mai Atafo, Oba Gbolahan Lawal, Tokunbo Abiru, Leo Stan Ekeh, Olabode Agoro, Toyin Lawani, Femi Aderibigbe and Yomi Casual, among several others.

However, only 11 outstanding personalities will ultimately be named the “Eko Best 11”—a title reserved for those who have made remarkable impact on Lagos life and culture.

As excitement builds across the city, the Eko Mi Awards is poised to shine a spotlight on the trailblazers shaping the future of Lagos.
