A joint security team comprising military personnel, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, and local vigilantes has arrested a suspected collaborator of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN) in Anambra State.
Security sources said the suspect was apprehended around noon on May 30 during a routine patrol along the Owerre-Ezukala axis in Umunze, Orumba South Local Government Area.
The operation was carried out by troops of Sector 5 under Operation UDO KA, working alongside police officers, DSS personnel and local vigilante groups.
Preliminary findings indicate that the suspect allegedly provided intelligence to IPOB/ESN operatives, alerting them to the movement of security forces in the area.
Following the arrest, the suspect was handed over to local vigilante operatives for initial interrogation and profiling, while further investigations continue.
Security operatives have since intensified patrols in the area to maintain control and prevent criminal elements from operating freely.
Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to sustained security operations aimed at tackling criminal activities and ensuring peace across Anambra State.
