Those confirmed are Kayode Are from Ogun State, Aminu Dalhatu from Jigawa State, and Emmanuel Oke from Oyo State.

Presenting the committee’s report, its chairman, Senator Sani Bello, said the nominees demonstrated broad knowledge and a strong understanding of international diplomacy during their screening.

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, commended the committee for the swift handling of the confirmation process.

He also congratulated President Bola Tinubu for what he described as appointing “square pegs in square holes,” and urged the ambassadors to work towards strengthening Nigeria’s bilateral relations with their host countries.

However, President Tinubu had forwarded the names of the three nominees to the Senate for confirmation on November 26.

It added that 65 other ambassadorial nominees earlier submitted and screened by the Senate are yet to be confirmed.

In a separate decision, the Senate also confirmed two nominees as commissioners of the National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

They are Aisha Kanti Bello and Dr. Animashaun Olayinka.
