Popular Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, has disclosed why he slapped a police officer on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos State.

Seun, the youngest son of Afrobeat legend, Fela Kuti, was seen in a viral video assaulting the police officer on Saturday, May 13.

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba, later ordered the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, to arrest the singer for assaulting the policeman in uniform.

The IGP equally ordered a speedy and full investigation into the cause(s) of the assault and prosecution of the famous singer.

He added that the policeman had since apologised and he had forgiven him.

“He has apologised, and I have agreed not to press charges. Please mind your business and ensure the poor guy doesn’t lose his job.”
