Shettima, APC govs, others storm Ekiti for Oyebanji’s mega rally

Vice President Kashim Shettima, governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, national leaders of the party, members of the National Assembly and ministers are expected to converge on Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday for the grand finale rally of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s re-election campaign.

The rally, scheduled to hold at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion from 11 a.m., will also attract thousands of supporters from within and outside Ekiti State in support of Governor Oyebanji and his deputy, Monisade Christianah Afuye.

According to the Ekiti APC 2026 Governorship Election Campaign Council, the event marks the climax of a statewide grassroots campaign that covered all wards, communities and local government areas in the state.

The council said the rally is expected to be one of the largest political gatherings in the state’s history and a demonstration of support for Oyebanji’s second-term bid.

It noted that the event comes on the heels of endorsements from traditional rulers, professional groups, market associations, artisans, youths, women, civil servants, retirees, religious leaders and political stakeholders across party lines.

The campaign council added that the expected attendance of the Vice President, APC governors and other top party leaders reflects the strategic importance of Ekiti State to the party and underscores confidence in Governor Oyebanji’s performance and leadership.

In a statement signed by the Director of Media and Communication of the Ekiti APC 2026 Governorship Election Campaign Council, Taiwo Olatunbosun, supporters were urged to turn out peacefully for what he described as a historic and defining moment in the state’s democratic journey.
