The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arraigned Abdulmajid Halifa Nazifi before a Kano State High Court over the alleged misappropriation of N34.875m meant for the purchase of spaghetti from BUA.
Nazifi was arraigned on Wednesday before Justice Musa Karaye on a one-count charge of criminal misappropriation involving funds belonging to Fahad Balarabe Adaji.
According to the charge, the alleged offence occurred between September and October 2024 in Kano, when N34.875m was transferred, on the defendant’s instruction, into the First Bank account of one Muazu Abdullahi for the purchase of IRS Spaghetti from BUA.
The EFCC alleged that Nazifi diverted the money for personal use instead of using it for the intended transaction.
The charge was brought under Section 308 of the Kano State Penal Code Law and is punishable under Section 309 of the same law.
Nazifi pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him.
Following his plea, prosecution counsel, Mustapha Maiwada, asked the court to fix a date for trial and order the defendant’s remand in a correctional facility.
Justice Karaye granted the request, ordered that Nazifi be remanded in a correctional facility and adjourned the case until November 2, 2026, for hearing.
