The Nigerian stock market rebounded on Friday, July 17, 2026, after a one-day downturn as investors recorded gains of N849 billion following renewed buying interest in equities.
Market sentiment improved on the back of demand for stocks such as Firstholdco, Haldane McCall, Livingtrust Mortgage Bank, WAPIC, Lasaco Assurance, and 28 other equities, which pushed the market into positive territory.
Market capitalisation rose by 0.54 per cent to N157.056 trillion from N156.207 trillion at the close of the previous session, while the All-Share Index gained 1,316.52 points, or 0.54 per cent, to close at 243,462.13, compared with 242,145.61 recorded earlier.
The market’s Year-to-Date return also improved to 56.45 per cent, while the market breadth closed positive with 33 gainers and 18 losers.
Firstholdco led the gainers’ chart by 9.97 per cent, settling at N95.95, Haldane McCall followed by 9.94 per cent, closing at N3.65, and Livingtrust Mortgage Bank gained by 9.73 per cent, ending the session at N3.72 per share.

WAPIC grew by 7.44 per cent, finishing at N2.60, while Lasaco Assurance increased by 5. 26 per cent, closing at N2 per share.

Conversely, Red Star Express topped the losers’ chart by 9.50 per cent, finishing at N20, Omatek Ventures trailed by 6.08 per cent, settling at N1.70, while Cileasing lost by 5.93 per cent, ending the session at N5.55 per share.
Jaiz Bank dipped by 5.03 per cent, closing at N8.50, and Livestock Feeds shed by 3.89 per cent, settling at N8.65 per share.
Market activity improved during the trading session, with total volume traded rising by 37.60 per cent to 685.87 million shares valued at N42.68 billion across 44,134 transactions.
Firstholdco emerged as the most actively traded stock by both volume and value, recording 225.91 million shares worth N20.97 billion, representing 32.94 per cent of the day’s total volume and 49.12 per cent of total value traded.
