The members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational Associated Institutions (NASU) have protested at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) campus in Akoka, Lagos State, over their withheld salaries.
The members of the unions were joined by their counterparts from the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) in the peaceful protest at the UNILAG gate on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.
The protesters, on Wednesday morning, blocked vehicular movement and hindered the free flow of traffic on the university campus.

They also sang and displayed various placards to register their grievances with the Federal Government over the withheld salaries.
Blackout in UI over SSANU, NASU strike
SSANU and NASU commenced a seven-day warning strike on Monday over the non-payment of four months withheld salaries.
President Bola Tinubu had, in October 2023, directed that the university workers who embarked on a prolonged strike in 2022 be paid four months.
The members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) who were part of the unions that embarked on the strike had been paid their own withheld four months’ salaries.
The Federal Government has however appealed to the unions to call off the warning strike.
