More than £201,000 (about $270,000) has been raised to build a mosque and borehole in honour of Kevin “Latif” Ayodele (Abdul Latif), the longtime trainer and close friend of heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua.
Ayodele, 38, passed away in a car crash on December 29, 2025, on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in Nigeria.
Also involved in the accident was Joshua’s strength coach, Sina Ghami.
Joshua sustained minor injuries and has since been discharged.
The fundraising campaign was launched shortly after the incident by the UK-based charity SPOT Project, an organization Ayodele supported during his lifetime.
The project is intended as sadaqah jariyah — a form of ongoing charity — aimed at supporting communities in need.
Ayodele, who embraced Islam in 2012, was widely known for his commitment to faith, fitness and humanitarian efforts.
Supporters say the project will serve as a lasting tribute to his values and the impact he made on others.
