A senator representing Plateau North Senatorial District, Simon Mwadkwon, has emerged as the Minority Leader of the 10th Senate.
Mwadkwon was announced as the Minority Leader by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, at plenary in Abuja on Tuesday.
Mwadkwon beat the immediate past governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, to the position.

Akpabio also announced Sen. Oyewumi Olalere (PDP-Osun) as Deputy Minority Leader; Sen. Darlington Nwokocha (LP-Abia) as Senate Minority Whip; and Sen. Rufai Hanga (NNPP-Kano) as Senate Deputy Minority Whip.
The Senate President had earlier announced Senator Opeyemi Bamidele (APC-Ekiti) as Majority Leader of the 10th Senate.
Akpabio also announced Senator Ali Mohammed Ndume (APC-Borno) as the Chief Whip; Senator David Umahi (APC-Ebonyi) as the Deputy Leader; and Senator Lola Ashiru (APC-Kwara) as Deputy Chief Whip.
