Telco accountant commits suicide in Lagos

A female accountant with telecommunications giant, Glo, identified as Folake Abiola, has committed suicide in the Lekki area of Lagos State.

Abiola was said to have committed by drinking a chemical substance suspected to be insecticide.

The 47-year-old accountant, it was gathered, committed suicide at her residence in Osapa London, Lekki on Friday.

Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said police operatives visited Abiola’s house and met her lifeless body on the floor.

He added that the late Glo accountant was buried last Friday according to Islamic rites.

Hundeyin said: “The moment the police in that area were alerted, they arrived at the scene and met the woman lifeless on the floor. A bottle of insecticide was also found by her, apparently, she had ingested that insecticide.

“The family members that were there officially wrote to the divisional police officer requesting for the release of the corpse to enable them to bury her in accordance with Islamic rites and the corpse was released to the family on compassionate grounds.

“She has since been buried, she was buried on May 27,” the police spokesperson stated.
