French President Emmanuel Macron has announced his readiness to support the Nigerian government in its fight against terrorism.
Macron made this known via a post on his X account on Sunday, December 7, 2025.
The president also disclosed that he had a discussion with President Bola Tinubu.
Macron wrote: “I spoke with President Tinubu of Nigeria.
Military coup unfolds in Benin Republic as soldiers announce takeover
“I conveyed France’s solidarity in the face of the various security challenges, particularly the terrorist threat in the North.
“At his request, we will strengthen our partnership with the authorities and our support for the affected populations. We call on all our partners to step up their engagement.
“No one can remain a spectator.”
