Theatre Commander of Joint Task Force (JTF) North East, Operation HADIN KAI, Maj Gen Abdulsalam Abubakar, visited troops stationed at Mallam Fatori in Abadam Local Government Area, Borno State, on March 20, following their successful repulsion of an ISWAP attack on March 18.
The visit, which included Maj Gen Abubakar’s senior staff, combined operational assessment with Eid-El-Fitr celebrations for personnel in the area.
The Theatre Commander inspected defensive positions, including key approaches to the camp, Forward Operating Base (FOB) Kangarr, and D Company deployments at Bosso.
During the visit, Maj Gen Abubakar conveyed the felicitations of the Chief of Defence Staff and the Chief of Army Staff, commending the troops for their “outstanding gallantry, resilience, and dedication” during the recent engagement.
He also oversaw the deployment of additional combat equipment and replenishment of ordnance used in operations.
Emphasising the importance of vigilance, operational readiness, and troop morale, Maj Gen Abubakar encouraged personnel to continue defending lives and property against insurgent threats.
The troops expressed gratitude, saying the visit boosted morale and reinforced their resolve to protect the community.
