Popular TikTok influencer and livestreamer, Habeeb Hamzat, widely known as Peller, has been hospitalised after crashing his newly acquired Mercedes-Benz during an emotional livestream in Lagos.
The incident occurred on Sunday along the Lekki–Epe Expressway while Peller was broadcasting an Instagram live session titled “RIP Peller.” The video, which has since gone viral, showed the influencer driving alone and appearing visibly distressed as he engaged in a heated phone conversation, reportedly with his girlfriend and fellow content creator, Jarvis, amid rumours of a breakup.
During the livestream, Peller was seen crying and acting agitated, making several alarming statements that suggested emotional instability and fear. He repeatedly expressed concern about being ridiculed publicly if the relationship ended and made comments indicating self-harm.
At one point, he was heard saying, “I will use this car and have an accident right now,” and later added, “I’m scared. If you break up with me, people will be mocking me… Thank you, I’m going to kill myself.”
Moments after these remarks, the livestream footage captured the vehicle veering off the road and crashing into a barrier, leaving the luxury car severely damaged.
Bystanders reportedly rushed to his aid and he was subsequently taken to a hospital for medical attention. While his rescue and hospitalisation have been confirmed, the extent of his injuries has not yet been disclosed.
Peller’s relationship with Jarvis has been marked by public disputes, allegations and reconciliations, often played out on social media. Recent leaked chats suggesting another breakup have fueled speculation that the latest disagreement may have contributed to the incident.
Reactions online have been divided, with many expressing concern for the influencer’s mental health and safety, while others questioned whether the incident was exaggerated or staged, citing his history of dramatic viral content.
Meanwhile, some social media users have called on relevant authorities, including the Federal Road Safety Corps, to investigate the incident due to the potential danger posed to other road users.
As of the time of filing this report, neither Peller, Jarvis nor any relevant authority has issued an official statement on the incident.
