Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has approved the promotion of 3,592 civil servants following the successful conclusion of the 2025 promotion exercise conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission.
The development comes as part of activities marking the third anniversary of President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Between June 8 and July 17, 2026, the FCT inaugurated and flagged off more than 30 projects to commemorate the milestone.
Announcing the promotions, Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, described the approval as a reflection of the Federal Capital Territory Administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Ezeh said promotion examinations for senior officers were held from July 1 to 3, while junior officers sat for their examinations on July 10.
He commended Wike for providing the support that enabled the commission to successfully carry out the exercise and fulfil its statutory responsibilities.
According to him, the minister has also directed the commission to immediately begin the 2026 promotion exercise to ensure eligible officers are promoted as and when due.
“Under this administration, it is a priority that FCT workers are promoted as and when due. This complements the tremendous infrastructural development being carried out by the FCT Minister, ensuring that workers also share in the achievements marking President Tinubu’s third anniversary,” Ezeh said.
He noted that the directive underscores the administration’s commitment to balancing infrastructure development with improved staff welfare and career progression.
Ezeh also commended civil servants for their orderly conduct throughout the 2025 promotion exercise and urged officers expected to participate in the 2026 exercise to maintain the same level of discipline and professionalism.
He further appreciated the Joint Union Action Committee for its cooperation, which contributed to the smooth conduct of the exercise.
The commission chairman advised prospective candidates for the 2026 promotion exercise to begin preparations early, stressing that promotions in the FCT Civil Service are merit-based, competitive and subject to the availability of vacancies.
