Tinubu appoints Ibrahim Ida as CAC chairman, nominates new population commissioners

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a fresh round of appointments, naming Senator Ibrahim Ida as Chairman of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and nominating seven individuals to fill vacant positions at the National Population Commission (NPC).

The announcement was made on Monday in a State House press statement signed by the Presidential Special Adviser on Information & Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Senator Ida, a former lawmaker who represented Katsina Central, holds postgraduate degrees in Banking and Finance as well as Law. He previously served as Katsina State Commissioner of Finance and also as a Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service.

The President also forwarded seven nominees to the National Assembly for confirmation as Federal Commissioners of the NPC. The nominees represent Ekiti, Zamfara, Bauchi, Kwara, Katsina, Jigawa, and Sokoto states respectively: Kolawole Oladipupo Alabi, Nasiru Mu’azu, Usman Abubakar Tuggar, Dr Isaka Alada Yahaya, Prof. Sadiq Isah Radda, Suleiman Umar, and Hon. Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo. Their nomination complements other commissioners already sworn in.

In a separate appointment, Dr Yusuf Mohammed from Kano State has been named Chairman of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaltungo.

President Tinubu has also confirmed the appointment of Bala Mohammed Bello as Special Adviser on Political Economy. Bello, from Kebbi State, is a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and previously served as Executive Director (Corporate Services) at the Nigerian Export-Import Bank. He holds degrees in Accounting and Business Administration from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

The President expressed confidence in the appointees, stating that their experience and expertise will support his administration’s drive to improve the quality of life for Nigerians.
