Tinubu celebrates Shettima at 60, praises loyalty, service

President Bola Tinubu has celebrated Vice President Kashim Shettima on his 60th birthday, describing him as a trusted partner whose loyalty, courage and commitment have contributed to the success of his administration.

Tinubu, in a statement issued on Tuesday, congratulated Shettima and extended his goodwill to his wife, Nana, children, family members and political associates as the Vice President marks the milestone on September 2.

The President described Shettima as a patriot whose career had been shaped by service and sacrifice, noting his experience in banking and his contributions to Borno State and Nigeria.

He commended the Vice President’s performance as governor of Borno State and his subsequent service as Vice President, saying he had demonstrated diligence, compassion and courage in both positions.

Tinubu particularly acknowledged Shettima’s loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his support for the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

According to the President, Shettima has also played a significant role in coordinating economic policies as Chairman of the National Economic Council, while promoting cooperation between the Federal Government and state governments.

“His respect for constitutional governance, democratic institutions, and dialogue and consultation has helped strengthen good governance,” Tinubu said.

The President described Shettima’s loyalty, wisdom and sense of duty as invaluable to the administration, thanking him for his continued partnership in pursuing its programmes.

“I must thank Vice President Shettima for his steadfast support and partnership as we continue to join hands in delivering the promises of Renewed Hope to Nigerians,” he said.

Tinubu expressed confidence that both leaders would continue working together to make progress towards building the Nigeria they envisioned.

He prayed that Allah would continue to guide, protect and strengthen the Vice President, while granting him wisdom, good health and many more years of purposeful service to the country.

Tinubu signed the message in his capacity as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces on September 1, 2026.
