Tinubu congratulated me, but I’m still expecting Oyebamiji’s call — Adeleke

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has disclosed that President Bola Tinubu called to congratulate him following his victory in Saturday’s governorship election.

Adeleke described his re-election as a victory for democracy and the people of Osun State, while commending Tinubu for supporting the electoral process.

Speaking after the election results were announced, Adeleke thanked the President for his congratulatory call, saying Tinubu’s action demonstrated his commitment to democracy.

“I want to seize this opportunity to thank Mr President. Mr President has called me and he has congratulated me. Thank you, Mr President, for making sure democracy lives on because you fought for it,” he said.

The governor also attributed his victory to God and the people’s endorsement of his administration’s performance, particularly in infrastructure, healthcare and security.

“I thank God Almighty for this victory. It’s a victory for democracy. Victory for Osun election,” Adeleke said.

He said the election outcome showed that residents appreciated the projects and programmes implemented by his administration.

According to him, “The victory is a way Osun people is repaying me for the infrastructural developments, health, security and other things I have delivered for my people.”

Adeleke urged his opponents to accept the outcome, stressing that the election should not be seen as a contest with winners and losers.

“It’s no victor, no vanquished,” he said.

However, he disclosed that he was still expecting a congratulatory call from the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.

“I am expecting the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, to call me and congratulate me,” Adeleke said.
