President Bola Tinubu has congratulated players of Nigerian descent who played key roles in the Seattle Seahawks’ triumph at Super Bowl 60.
The Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots 29–13 on Sunday at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, to claim their second Lombardi Trophy.
In a statement on Tuesday, the President highlighted several Nigerian-heritage players who contributed to the victory, including quarterback Jalen Oluwaseun Milroe, defensive standout Nick Emmanwori, veteran linebacker Uchenna Nwosu, linebacker Boye Maye, and offensive lineman Olu Oluwatimi.
Tinubu also extended congratulations to Michael Onwenu, one of the New England Patriots’ most dominant offensive linemen, who is also of Nigerian descent.
The President commended the athletes for bringing pride and honour to their country of descent, noting that Emmanwori, Nwosu and Maye proudly waved Nigeria’s flag following the Seahawks’ Super Bowl win.
“These players and their accomplishments affirm Nigerians’ global reputation for excellence and talent,” Tinubu said, wishing them continued success and further achievements in their careers.
