President Bola Tinubu has departed Abuja for a two-nation working visit to Japan and Brazil.
The presidential aircraft took off from the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja at about 11:15 a.m. on Friday, August 15, 2025.
Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga had, in a statement on Wednesday, said Tinubu would leave Abuja on Thursday.

However, the president didn’t depart the nation’s capital following several meetings with dignitaries, including the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, at the Presidential Villa.
Onanuga had said Tinubu would stop over in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, before proceeding to Japan.
He stated that President Tinubu will attend the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) in Yokohama, Japan, from August 20 to 22.
