Tinubu directs Oyedele to present scorecard on economic reforms

President Bola Tinubu has directed the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, to present the Federal Government’s Reforms Scorecard to Nigerians.

Tinubu said the scorecard would provide an account of the government’s economic reforms since 2023, including their impact, costs and the potential economic damage the administration believes it prevented.

The President disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, saying the reforms were introduced to build a stronger economy and create better prospects for Nigerians and future generations.

“When we began this journey of reform in 2023, I promised that the difficult decisions we were making would serve the purpose of building an economy that works better for you and a country that is stronger for our children,” Tinubu said.

According to him, the scorecard will show Nigerians what the reforms have achieved, what they have cost the country and the challenges that remain.

He said he had directed Oyedele to explain the figures, policy decisions and progress recorded under the reforms.

“You deserve to see the numbers. You deserve to know what has changed and what these reforms mean for you, your family, your business and our country,” the President said.

Tinubu said the presentation was part of the government’s commitment to accounting for its economic decisions and keeping Nigerians informed about the impact of its policies.

“This is your government. This is your country. This is our account to you,” he added.

The Federal Government’s Reforms Scorecard is expected to provide details of the administration’s economic policy measures and their effects since Tinubu assumed office in May 2023.
