President Bola Tinubu has praised Nigeria’s armed forces for their resilience in the fight against insecurity, declaring that the country is recording steady victories against terrorists and violent criminals.
In his Independence Day address, Tinubu paid tribute to soldiers, police officers and other security personnel, describing them as heroes whose sacrifices have helped reclaim communities and restore peace in troubled areas.
He stated that Boko Haram insurgents in the North-East, separatist agitators in the South-East and bandits in the North-West had been significantly weakened by the sustained operations of the Nigerian military and security agencies.
“Peace has returned to hundreds of our liberated communities, and thousands of our people have returned safely to their homes,” the president said.
Tinubu urged Nigerians to celebrate the gallantry of security operatives, many of whom he said continue to pay the ultimate price to protect the country.
Beyond security, the president appealed for national unity, warning against forces seeking to divide the nation.
“While our system is sometimes stretched by forces opposed to our values, we continue to strive for a more perfect union where every Nigerian can find purpose and fulfilment,” he said.
