President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday directed a comprehensive review of security operations in Katsina State, following renewed bandit attacks that have left communities in distress.
Speaking at the State House in Abuja while receiving a delegation of eminent citizens of Katsina led by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, the President said the Federal Government will deploy advanced military hardware, surveillance drones, and improved intelligence gathering to tackle insecurity in the state.
“I have today directed all the security agencies to energise further and look at the strategies.
“We have approved the additional acquisition of drones,” Tinubu said, adding that he expects daily feedback on security operations in Katsina.
The President also said his administration was considering the establishment of state police to strengthen security at the grassroots, alongside equipping newly deployed forest guards.
“The security challenges that we are facing are surmountable.
“Yes, we have porous borders. We inherited weaknesses that could have been addressed earlier.
“It is a challenge that we must fix, and we are facing it,” he noted.
Tinubu further stressed that addressing insecurity remains central to his Renewed Hope Agenda.
“We must protect our children, people, livelihood, places of worship, and recreational spaces.
“They can’t intimidate us,” he declared.
During the meeting, the President also pledged to immortalise former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a leader who left behind “a legacy of success” and a stable political structure.
Governor Radda expressed gratitude to the President for his support to Katsina, particularly through infrastructure projects and appointments of indigenes into strategic positions.
He appealed for additional federal support in security, youth empowerment, and infrastructure development.
Former Governor Aminu Bello Masari also thanked Tinubu for honouring Buhari with a state burial, while reaffirming Katsina’s loyalty to the APC-led government.
The Waziri of Katsina, Senator Ibrahim Ida, commended Tinubu’s efforts to fast-track infrastructure projects such as the Kano-Maradi Rail line, while calling for an upgrade of the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport and more security focus in the state’s southern region.
