Tinubu presents Shettima with 2027 running mate certificate

President Bola Tinubu has formally presented Vice President Kashim Shettima with his certificate as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election.

The presentation followed the All Progressives Congress’ confirmation of Shettima as Tinubu’s vice-presidential candidate for the next general election.

The development was disclosed in a video shared on Thursday by the President’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Olusegun Dada.

The video showed Shettima arriving at the venue, exchanging brief remarks with the President before Tinubu handed him the certificate confirming his nomination.

Sharing the clip, Dada wrote: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu presents certificate to Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate in 2027 election.”

Responding to speculation about Shettima’s position in the administration, Dada dismissed claims that the vice president had been sidelined.

“At no point was the Vice President’s place in this administration under any doubt. People just create scenarios in their head and start cooking,” he said.

The presentation comes days after the APC formally endorsed Shettima as Tinubu’s running mate for the 2027 presidential election, ending months of speculation over the composition of the party’s ticket.

The ruling party has also expressed confidence that the Tinubu-Shettima ticket will secure re-election after submitting its nomination forms for onward transmission to the Independent National Electoral Commission ahead of the stipulated deadline.
