President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has elevated Ibrahim Masari from Senior Special Assistant to Special Adviser on Political Affairs.
The development was disclosed on Thursday in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, Masari will serve alongside Alhaji Yau Darazo, whom Tinubu appointed to the same position in July 2023.
Masari, a close ally of the President, was initially appointed as Senior Special Assistant on Political Affairs in 2023.
The Katsina-born politician previously served as the Welfare Secretary of the All Progressives Congress during the tenure of Adams Oshiomhole as the party’s national chairman.
In the presidential hierarchy, the position of Special Adviser ranks higher than that of Senior Special Assistant and is typically responsible for more strategic duties with closer access to the President.
Masari has remained an influential figure within Tinubu’s political circle and has played key roles in the activities of the ruling party, particularly in the North-West region.
His appointment does not require confirmation by the Senate, as presidential aides serve at the discretion of the President.
